Losing lines when solid hatching.

Hi, I am a very non technical self taught user at a basic level. I have created an isometric drawing in 2D. I then hatch planes with a solid pattern and I then lose some of the lines. There is hatching on both sides of the lines and the lost lines appear to be completely random. Any suggestions please?

Show us what you mean: post your DWG file and add notes in it explaining the problem.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

Please see file attached and note the vertical line in bottom left corner as not being visible. This also shows as hidden when i print to pdf etc.

Select all your lines (click on one and then right-click -> Select Similar), it will select all LINE objects in this layer, and then - (MENU): Tools -> Draw Order -> Send to front. It will display them on top of other layers. It is in HOME-MODIFY pallete in the Ribbon.

BTW, it is not good practice to draw in layer 0.

Again, Thanks for help.

I have changed the lines to a different layer and brought them all to the front as instructed. Assuming that the lines should then be visible on the screen the action of bringing them to the front has not worked and in fact I have even fewer outline lines visible. Result attched.

Am I doing something wrong?

I call BS on that statement.

In the two screenshots attached is what I see when opening and after applying "send to back".

BTW, I missed something - sorry. There is (at least in 2013) "HATCHES TO BACK" option. See the screenshot.

What does BS stand for? Sorry, I am not native English speaker.

A little immature of a response there @drjohn: you probably meant to say

"drafting on layer 0 is an option but most users prefer to leave that layer blank as it is more of a control layer that can affect the behavior of other objects".

Which lines are you "losing" exactly? Neither your latest CAD file nor those screenshots tell me much sadly, I am at a loss on what you actually wish to achieve.

Yes, that is what I meant. And I state this due to personal expirience! It is absloutely true when someone else will use this drawing - for example as an XREF to be underlayed - it almost completely destroys any option to manipulate the layer properties! You cannot even freeze it. So, it is not BS (if it means bullsh..). Maybe I had to explain better what I meant.

Concerning the problem of the OP - if you look at "Before" screenshot you will see that some of the bricks don't have contour line. They are, for some reason, behind the yellow hatch.

I am running into the same exact problem when drawing rectangles with a hatch inside of it, I tried to bring the lines forward using the steps given previously, and the only thing that changed is that I now I have fewer lines

Post a dwg file so we can see the problem.
