How to find Value of existing line thickness

In the layer properties everything is "by default" Well how does one determine the value of what "default is?" What if I just want to know what the thickness is "by layer." Where can I find an actual value?

ByLayer:

Open the LayerProperties Manager, search for the Layer, check the Lineweight property.

ByDefault:

Standard is 0.25 (metric) and it is a Program-Variable,

so it is the stupiest thing to use that value,

because everyone caan set up another value as default.

(In practise it isn't a drama, because the most of users - line you - don't know that, so they never change it)
