drawing compare and background mask on mtext

I found that when there is a background mask on mtext and using drawing compare the background changes to whatever the color is setup for the comparisons.

I am uploading a picture of this.

is this the way it is supposed to work (or is the only way it can work)?

has anyone else had this problem?

or is it a setting I have wrong?

Sadly that's a known limitation with background masking.
