Downloading and installing a free trial of AutoCAD LT

Just a quick question about downloading and installing a trial version of AutoCAD LT.  The computer I use at work is an older model (Windows XP Pro 2002 Service Pack 3) Intell2  4400 @ 2GHZ  with 3.2G of RAM.

For some reason, I'm unable to install the trial version of AutoCAD LT on this system to try it before our upgrade to a new computer system.

The problem you are having is probably more to do with your OS than your hardware (which is a little low, but still within limits).

System requirements for AutoCAD 2017

System requirements for AutoCAD 2017
Operating System	Microsoft® Windows® 10 (desktop OS) Microsoft Windows 8.1 with Update KB2919355 Microsoft Windows 7 SP1

As you can see, Windows XP is not supported for 2017 (or 2015/2016).

System requirements for AutoCAD 2014

Note: AutoCAD 2014 is the final version of AutoCAD software that will be supported on the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system.   

You might be able to upgrade to Windows 7, but on a system that old it is likely to have problems.

Microsoft has officially retired Windows XP.  It might be time to inform the powers that be that you need a new computer.

Wait for your new computer or find a different computer with Win7/8/10 on it in your office to place with newer LT versions.
