My dad uses Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and AutoCAD 2012 and I'm wondering if it will be compatible with Windows 10 when it becomes available?

I installed Windows 10 over a month ago (don't know when exactly, but definitely over the 30 days, so I don't have the roll back option) and my AutoCAD 2013 was working fine. However, in the past couple of weeks it has started freezing whilst I've been working on it, and now it won't even open, it just freezes every time at the point where it says "checking liscence".
I'm not super computer savvy, and I don't have a vast knowledge of AutoCAD and its workings (I just do really basic work on it for my dad), so I don't know whether it's directly related to the Windows 10 upgrade, or an issue with the liscencing all of a sudden, but if anyone could give me some advice (preferrably dumbed down) I'd be incredibly grateful.
install vmwaree, and then you can install earlier version of windows inside vmware, so you can install autocad through earlier version of windows that you has install before
How do you create a separate bootable partition

Supported or not, Autodesk will never certify 2012 with Win10, it's a version that is no longer supported or updated. Sorry.
Stick with Win7 for that old software, it's the most stable. If you want to play with Win10, create a separate bootable partition for it and enjoy both worlds.
drive for windows 10?
Hello,
To provide an update on this topic and thread. The following AutoCAD versions have also been tested in Windows 10.
Autodesk product versions of 2012 and earlier are no longer supported and are not included in considerations of Windows 10 compatibility. The 2013–2014 versions of AutoCAD products will not be supported on Windows 10 as well.
For all links and further information on which AutoCAD releases are compatible with Windows 10 please read over the AKN Article before making any changes to your system.

hi guys
so im ordering AutoCAD 2017 in a couple of days, and ordering a laptop for it today.
should i go for windows 7 or windows 10 installed on the pc? they are the two choices i have been given
Hi @AutoMarcus
AutoCAD 2017 is already supported on Windows 10. If you get Windows 7 then you need to install Windows 7 SP1. See System requirements for AutoCAD 2017.
I upgraded to Windows 10, Autocad (2014) crashes or freezes all the time, will have to revert back to previous windows.
I have AutoCad 2013 and 2005 both of them was working until the latest Windows 10 updates. The AutoCad 2013 still works but the 2005 will not open.
Just for reference, this question is from before Windows 10 was released.
To get 2005 working you probably have to run it in Compatibility mode. The bigger question is in what situation would you need to be running a 13 year old version?
Hi,

Then I would suggest to create a virtual system (Oracle VirtualBox or VmWare Player), run Windows XP in your virtual system which can itself run on a Windows 10 workstation.
You should think about letting update your LISP's, the time may come that you can't start this old software any more.

I don't have a solution for you, but I wanted to say that Autocad2013 having issues with Lisp routines is 'normal' my office had to redo a majority of our lisps when we made the switch to 2013. I think it has to do with the changes made to the command list and getting rid of express tools. Basically your lisps are broken and now you get the fun of trying to figure out which commands are the broken ones.
