Simple 3D trim?

Hello all, TIA. It's been awhile since I've done 3D and I've forgotten a simple command. So, this solid has ended up with a stray piece and some edges that stick out higher than the rest of it. I know that I could always make a big cube, place it over the unwanted stuff, and subtract, but it seems like there was a more elegant way to do this, like some kind of 3D trim and also a way to disconnect a stray object from the main solid. So, that's really 2 commands.

SLICE can do that for you.

Select unnecessary faces (the easiest way is to select with a frame while pressing CTRL in the 2d-wareframe mode). And then press DEL.

This is the most logical way, as it works similarly to shrink/stretch (only with a delete command instead of a move command). And besides, you can modify as many solids as you like at once with this method.

But there is also a drawback - the removal does not always work, and sometimes the Autocad does not understand how to patch a hole in a solid. Then it's best to use _slice.
