Seeking Advice on Verifying Originality of AutoCAD and Revit Submissions

Hi everyone,

I am an educator, and my students regularly submit their work using AutoCAD and Revit. To maintain academic integrity, I am looking for ways to verify the originality of their submissions. Specifically, I want to ensure that:

1. The files were created by the students themselves.

2. There is no copying and pasting from other students’ drawings or external sources.

Could anyone advise if there are tools, commands, or best practices within AutoCAD or Revit that can help me verify the authenticity of student work? Additionally, if there are third-party tools or software that could assist in this process, I would greatly appreciate your recommendations.

With digital files it’s next to impossible. Imagine how can you determine if a word document contains copied content from another exactly the same document

Is there a way to create a template and enable tracking so that all student actions are recorded?

You can try requiring them to login to a web version to work in AutoCAD, this way would limit their possibility of copying

With Autocad 2025, they introduced an Activity Insights History button under "View". It has limited info, but you could explore that. Additionally, I believe Autocad has some kind of recorder associated with submitting to Autodesk's technical support, that someone else might be more familiar with. Or if yours and the student's bandwidth allows, Windows has a screen recorder as well, intended for gaming, but it's another option to explore.

Here is an old LISP routine from Bill Fane. It is meant to find cheaters in ACAD. Itracks objects by their entity handle and compares them to another file.
