Programmed mouse button double clicking only when in a command

I am having the most random issue, and am hoping this has come up for someone in the past. I finally wore out my Microsoft trackball intellipoint mouse after 20 years of abuse. The closest replacement I could find, was the Elecom "Huge" trackball. On the Microsoft mouse, I had the F8 and F3 keystrokes programmed to the extra mouse buttons, and everything worked great. On the new mouse, the F8 works great, and the F3 works independently, but when I am mid-command, it is double cycling the keystroke, basically turning osnaps on and off again very quickly. The F8 does not double cycle during commands, and I have tried moving the F3 to other buttons with the same result.

Thanks for any thoughts.

HI @Anonymous,

Can you tell me how you are mapping the buttons? Is there anything in the Windows driver for click speed?

Sure, I am using the software that I downloaded from the Elecom website, it is called "Elecom Mouse Assistant 5". For what it is worth, I had to download it from the Japanese website, as the English one was a build older, and did not support the "Huge". I am not seeing any reference to click speed. The reason I am hoping it is an Autocad issue, is that I am only having the problem when there is another command active.

I can't see my original post in this reply screen, so forgive me if I already wrote this, but... after experimenting a bit, it is not actually double clicking. It is clicking on teh down stroke, then again when the mouse button comes up. So, if I hold the button down, it all works as it should. As soon as I release, the click cycles again. The F8 button will also do this one in ten times.

I am going to try to map the toggle osnap function to another keystroke, in the CUI, and see if that helps. I tried to figure that out yesterday, but it did not take, and I had to go back to drawing.

Thanks for any ideas.

I'm not sure what the interface looks like, but if the macro is executing on both the F8 down stroke & upstroke can you edit the macro and delete the upstroke?

Hopefully the attached screenshot is clear. It is not really a macro, it is just an "arbitrary key" function, where you can type a keystroke. I have been reading on a Reddit forum that this mouse has had different issues regarding that arbitrary key assignment, so it is most likely a mouse driver issue.

The quirky thing, is that if I do not have a command active in autocad, and I hit the mouse buttons, they act normal and do not double cycle. It is only if I am hitting the buttons mid command that I have issues, so I posted here hoping someone else has run into a similar situation. The buttons, when mid command, are acting similar to mbuttonpan, where you hold it down, pan around, then when you release, it toggles back.

Thanks for any thoughts, I know it is more than likely not an autocad issue causing this.

Hi @Anonymous,

Just to be clear, when you use a generic mouse you are not seeing this behavior. You only see it with your programmable mouse.

If this is the case, can you try the English driver to see if it behaves differently than the Japanese driver?

I have been reading the manual and it appears that there might be exceptions on functionality of certain actions.

I would contact the Manufacturer if possible to see if they can offer some advice. This looks like the  Support link on their web site.
