Need to presspull or extrude or something.....

I need some help to remove some excess part of a 'cover' over my tapered cylinder.  THe rectangular portion  has been laid over the tapered cylinder and I need to remove the excess material around the edges. I have tried presspull and subtract commandsm but may the UCS isn't located in the right adjustment.

I have attached the dwg.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to discuss this issue.

If you set your UCS to align with the base circle, you should then be able to extrude that circle upwards and do a SUBTRACT.

Slice it using surface of the cylinder.

Hi, I was looking for a way to cover the 'top' of the cylinder. That slides onto the piece. Can you suggest a way to do that?

Many ways to do it, perpendicular or radial to the cylinder?

Open this drawing and move things around, see if that is what you need, if not, hand draw it and post a pic here, we'll find an ez way for you.
