Hello!
I want to draw inside the model space and print from the model space.
I want the lines/polylines to be displayed as set in the layer settings or any other settings. "See as set".
Now I made different layers for my polylines with different colors and linestrengths.
If I create a polyline on the according layer, it does not change its strength. The color is correct. Only the strength is not correct. In the layer settings I set the strength to 1mm. The model space shows a 0mm thin line. If I set it manually inside the properties window, it shows the correct thickness.
LWDISPLAY is not doing the job, because for some reason it increases the linestrength to 1mm (it just slightly gets bigger) and it rounds the ends of the line which is definitely not what I want.
How can I make the linestrength visible as set in the layer properties?
Hi,
Would you please share with us a simple CAD dwg file for testing?

I added my DWG file with some explanation.
My goal is to draw in the model space and be able to print/plot everything in 1:1 scale as I see it in the model space.
I want to use polylines on different layers. The polylines have different colors and thicknesses. I have trouble with the thickness settings in the layers because they are not displayed. I always have to change the "global width" property of the polyline, instead of being able to set it via layer settings.
EDIT:
The thing about LWDISPLAY is that it is not the same as setting the "global width" of a polyline or line. The ends become rounded and are not flat cut as with polylines. Also 1mm global width seems not to be the same as 1mm line width via layer settings. It is smaller. Super weird.
Your settings in the screenshot seem to make lines AND polylines appear rectangular after plotting.
In the model space it still looks rounded and the problem is, that if I connect the polyline to a block, it overlaps, even when I connect it with object snap. In my screenshot of the printed part, you can see that the polyline is rectangular but is overlapping. This is not a solution unfortunately. Also, If zooming out of the model space, the lines become bigger and bigger. If zooming in they become smaller. So the lines are never the right, constant thickness when looking at the drawing. For some reason, setting the "global width" in polylines properties, the polylines end automatically rectangular and remain constant in thickness even when zooming in or out. Also they connect correctly to other objects. In the screenshot you can also see the connection of a polyline with global width 0 (standard) and set to 1mm in layer settings, and on the right with global width 1, connecting perfectly to the object.
So all summed up: I can set line widths via layer settings, but lines and polylines will end with rounded ends, overlappying even when connected to blocks/objects via object snap and only become rectangular when plotted and are also displayed variably in line width when zooming in the model space.
I think I have to use polylines, set global width to the desired value and draw my lines. Line thickness does not work well with layers it seems, which is crazy if there is no setting for it to make clean connections.
