Layer not correctly retained when adding block to existing tool palette

Hi

I'm delivering a course at a client's premises and have been showing the delegates how to create a block on layer zero then add them to an existing tool palette by clicking and dragging the block to the palette.

We are experiencing a problem - when the block is then placed from the tool palette, the colour of the block is displaying the colour of layer zero and not the colour of the layer we are attempting to place it on.

I'm not sure this error has happened on other courses I have delivered. I don't recall seeing it before.

The client is using AutoCAD 2015.

Any help on this issue would be gladly accepted.

Many thanks

Wendy

Wendy Hi,

click on the that tool and go to properties under general verify that the color is set to bylayer (not byblock?)

also verify that the current drawing color is bylayer.

Hi Moshe

we have checked and the colour in the properties is set to ByLayer as it should be. None of the delegates have changed this setting.

Also the current drawing colour is set to ByLayer.

Many thanks for your help

The block is still on layer 0?

Show us, post a DWG file with the problem, let's all look under the hood.

After adding the block to palette, change it's properties under layer  to --use current

Many thanks Ranjit, Moshe and everyone who responded.

You're all stars! I'll use the solution that Ranjit offered, as a general way of making sure my delegates get the correct layer when placing blocks.

Thanks all again
