Hyperlink 'Text to display' referenced in a field - Kind request / question

Hello.

At least there are 2 post in a forum concerning this same question, but at both cases answers do not relate to the question. This is my try :-).

I can retrieve objects Hyperlink parameter using Data Extraction - no problem.

But Hyperlink parameter is missing in Field->Object parameters.

Is there any way/code that can be put in Fields Expression to make a field display Hyperlink (or Hyperlinks 'Text to display' to be specific)? That would be a real gamechanger as objects Hyperlink parameter could be used as objects description/name/symbol (whatever you intend). This would work something like text/string parameter in eg. BIM - say "Comments" parameter.

Before You give a obvious solution:

I know I can make a Block of object and give it a name, or define a block attribute with name/comments but I don't want/need to make blocks of each and every line/polyline/hatch I want to name.

I also know that I can make a Field with "Linked" category - but this field is standalone - it doesn't point to any object, so it's useless.

I know that I just can make a plain Text/Mtext next to the object and put it's name by hand 🙂 but it's not the point.

Shame that in 2021 AutoCAD entities don't have a readable comment parameter by default.

Please help me (and many others) as this capability should be in AutoCAD for years now.

Hi @LOESCH_PK,

I have seen a similar question a couple times over the last few years and agree, this would be a useful feature. I am not aware of a way to do this except through a customization (you could check with the AutoCAD Customizations forum members to see if anyone has a solution).

Additionally, I encourage you to use the Product Feedback link under the drop down in the upper right corner of the AutoCAD window, to submit the idea for future consideration.

Thank You @cheryl.buck . I've sent a request. Shame that there is no way to provide a specific Field Expression that could do the trick.
