Folder Location issue with PDF Publishing

Hi,

I am having issue with PDf Publishing, everything was fine before few days, now even I am selecting a specific location for Output PDF, Cad is creating PDF in temp folder only. Please see below image for information. please help me how to fix this. I want to Publish my pdf in certain folder location not in temp. folder.  If possible tell me also how this error came, so I can be careful.

Hi,

you might try to clean your %TEMP% folder, maybe you already have too many files or protected files in that folder(s).

Hi,

thank you for the screenshot, it shows that your AutoCAD 2017 is not up-to-date, it should show 2017.1.2 as shown here:

Maybe installing this update already solves your question.

Hi,

>> up to May 28 everything was working good

What changed on that day?

To verify if it's the installation or the AutoCAD user profile you might login as a different Windows user (create a new Windows user account on your system), then login with that account and

  • try to start AutoCAD and publish in normal way
  • turn off antivirus and test again
  • right-click the AutoCAD desktop icon and use option "start as administrator" and try the same again

...anything better here?

Hi,

As you said i just logged in another user and published to a selected folder and its worked , so how can i solve problem for my user.

Regards

Message 13 of 26

Hi,

either this other user has more permissions in the destination folder or the AutoCAD profile is clean and not modified.

You might try to use command _OPTIONS ==> Tab Profiles and export a profile to create an ARG-file (in the user account that works well), then login with the account that does not work and import the profile, make sure it's used as standard profile, restart AutoCAD and try publishing again.

A more direct method would be to export all settings (not just the profile) from the "good user account" and import the settings in the "other user account" 😉 as described >>>here<<<.

By chance, do you have ProjectWise installed?

How about the computer you logged into and successfully published?

Message 15 of 26

Hello,

Yes ProjectWise is nstalled on my PC. As Mr.Alfred said, Publishing to selected folder is working with other user. but my current user is publishing to tem folder only.

The reason I ask is because we had the same issue and upgrading ProjectWise has resolved our issue.

In our case, we upgraded from .167 to .262

Maybe something to check on your end.

When I use the PUBLISH command in AutoCAD, a dialog pops up first. On it, I have 'Publish to:' set to PDF, and Publish Options is available to use. clicking on that, I have 'Prompt for Name' checked, and I also have a Location set. If the location is not the same every time, at least the process stops to ask for a name, at which point I can choose the location.

You mentioned "my user", which leads me to think it's a new install or a new update for that user, and this is just one of the many things that needs to be set up for him/her to work the same way as your other users.

If by some odd chance my nattering was useful -- that's great, glad to help. But if it actually solved your issue, then please mark my solution as accepted 🙂

I had users turn off "Background Publishing" as a workaround until their PW was upgraded.
