File problem

Having some trouble with my newly created template file. When I open the file I get this message 1.png

Then I see this message:

2.PNG

Then, "Select Shape File: ltypeshp.shx."

Don't no what that is. I am working on my schools computer so I don't have access to installments etc.

I can see the drawing but not any of my menues or any menues at all. When opening other files it is the same problem.

Hi,

I can open your dwt file without any error messages.

So in case you have not done too many customization's to your AutoCAD I would suggest you reset your settings to default as described >>>here<<<

What I see in your drawing:

  • a DWT-file is an empty drawing with predefined settings (like layer, layouts, dimension styles, text styles, ...) your file contains already data.
  • especially one element might be irritating (e.g. ZOOM EXTENTS zooms far away), you have an empty text objects far away from your geometry

This drawing & your post is mismatch.

1, Your first post you opened is working file.

2, so you received a message "Select Shape File: ltypeshp.shx."

Thanks for the answer. So you shouldn't have any information in a dwt file? I actually want that. So should I save it as a dwg?

Still having problems to get back my menues and stuff. I am in contact with my schools it serice...

Hi,

>> So you shouldn't have any information in a dwt file?

>> I actually want that. So should I save it as a dwg?

Yes, working files are saved as DWG, not DWT.

DWG is the format you save your drawings.

DWT is the format you prepare templates (empty drawings with predefined settings) used to start new drawings/projects.

>> There is no AutoCAD20xx

Please replace "xx" with your version number. If you have AutoCAD 2019 then the folder is names "AutoCAD2019"

>> Still having problems to get back my menues and stuff

If you want to have back the settings after installation then run >>>this process<<<
