Field Values

I'm kind of new to using fields and need a lttle direction. Is it possible to set a field value that retuns the Y coordinate value only? I keep trying different things and can't seem to do it.

Thanks

The Y coordinate of what?  A specific object type?

A line object for example:

Field > Object > Select Object > End Point > Check boxes in the lower right corner list X Y Z.

Sorry I should have added some specifics.

I'm trying to make a simple block to indicate the height that a contractor needs to place the blocking in walls for attaching millwork. My shops are always baselined on a Y value of 0, making the block insertion point Y value the height of the blocking. Simple.

I followed your suggestion and it works like a dream, once I explode the block. Now the only thing I'm trying to get around is suppressing the trailing 0's. My drawing units are set at a precision value of .0000, but I don't want the field to show any decimal places. ie. I would like 850.0000 to show as 850.

Thanks a lot for the help, I'm getting close.

Figured it out. I edited the field to Format: Decimal from Current units, set the precision to 0 and all is good. Works perfectly

Thanks again
