Embed an xref into the drawing

Hello,

I need to embed the files that are refernced in a drawing into the actual drawing. That way, if the path is broken they will still be visible.

I know this will make the drawing larger, but that really isn't an issue. The referenced file is a mrSid and I am using Autocad Map 2015 with the Carlson Civil Suite addon.

XREF, Bind option.  You are aware, I hope, that once you Bind an Xref in, it will no longer update if the source drawing is changed, as it will if you don't Bind it.

If the default BIND option is not OK for you,

please change the System variable BINDTYPE ...

For some reason, I can't bind the Mr. Sid files. It is not that they don't work, but that the Bind command just isn't there.

What would I change the BINDTYPE to?

You can't bind image files that way: you will need to clip them out inside an image viewer program first, then paste then into AutoCAD. You may lose resolution with this method. Binding mrSID files is a terrible idea for the most part due to loss of resolution.

Ahhh....  I had assumed they were talking about Xrefs, but the original message isn't specific about the file type.
