Educational version plot stamp detection ACAD2014 sp1

Hi

We have few 2014 sp1 licenses currently running in our Company, and no further versions (e.g. Autocad 2015). We are usually dealing with a large number of drawings, coming both from us and from our partners. It has happened that, unfortunately, some of them have been passed to us with the educational stamp. Unfortunately, with 2014 sp1 the educational stamp is not shown but is present, and this is creating some issues with some of our Contractors. Therefore, we would like to be able to detect those stamps whenever we encounter them, so that, if the files from our partners are compromised, we can refuse them.

We cannot follow the dwgconvert procedure because it is too time demanding, and we are very used in dealing with lisp and/or batch for this sort of issues. Unfortunately, we have seen around many comment on this topic but we were unable to find something that suits our specific need.

Could you provide us with some solutions? (i.e. a lisp way to solve the problem or some sort of batch to deal with it).

Thanks and Regards

Michael Crea

While you wait... The EDU stamp is there by design to stop inappropriate use of EDU software and is always, ALWAYS present, it;s just that 2014 SP1 and later versions simply ignore it. There is nothing you can do about it except trough tips you've discovered.

I suspect Autodesk's legal department like to still use those tags to catch violators if and when they need that information.

Explore this tip, one of many online to automate conversions: http://autocadtips1.com/2013/02/05/export-to-autocad-script/

Good luck.

@pendean:

Thanks for your reply.

It is fine that this is always present, however since it seems to come from partners outside our Company (given we have all non-educational licenses), we would like to know, when we receive a file, if this has the EDU stamp or not (without opening it).

We have a long story proficiency (almost 20 years) in automating autocad drawings as well as in creating lisps.

However, we are not able to deal with ObjectArx (and the only automation we have found to detect edu stamp was using an objectarx method without giving much explanation on it) and therefore we were wondering if there was some lisp method or some software to do it.

Thanks

Wait and see if anyone responds: I've not seen anything like that.
