Display issue with annotative dimensions and text (cad2010)

Hi people.

I´m having an awkward issue with annotative texts and dimensions in Autocad 2010.

I.E.: I configure an annotative text style, then I use that text to set an annotative dimension style. I made my drawing, I set Vports in papersace, set scales and everythings goes normal. I finish, close the file and go home after work. But the next day, I open the drawing for an editing session and...the texts and dimensions display big, very big, unscaled. (It is not a scale problem, I use a template made by me for years and never happened).

So...I use "dim" > "update"...select everything...enter... and seems to be the solution. But it is not a definitive solution because every time I open the file the texts and dimensions apear unscaled.

Now is getting worst, when update the dimensions some of them change style (jump from style to another). I mean: the style in use is "Ann 2.5mm" and updating the dimensions change to "Standard" or another one.

It only happen when opening the drawing, once you update, the editing session goes normally.

Any idea?

I´ve tried changing "msltscale" parameter (just in case it was a display issue)...I create a new template, with new texts and dimensions and still happening so it is not a file issue, its an Autocad issue (and I don´t remember exactly when it started).

Thanks for helping...or at least spend time reading it.

So if you close your file after you fix it and QSAVE, then close autocad, count to ten, and open AutoCAD/your file again, does this still happen? Or is it only during an overnight lay-over?

Show us your DWG file with the problem please, let's all have a look for ourselves.

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

Does that happen in new files too? If "new" based on your template also has that issue then try a new file based on an AutoCAD original template.

When you run command _RECOVER instead of _OPEN to open your file, do you get errors in the drawing displayed (and repaired)?

Thanks for the detailed pictures: pleas post the actual DWG file please, the pictures alone don't seem to tell the full story to me anyway.

There it goes.

I made a test using the original template,  started from scratch, made the annotative text and dimension styles.

Still doing this.

Select the ordinate dimensions on the left(the ones with the huge text): start PROPERTIES. Under the MISC category, it says they are not annotative.

Make them annotative and your problem goes away.

Hi Pendean.

You`re right. if you check the properties says: Annotative: No, but when I do menu "Dimension" > "Update" and select all...that property turn to Yes, and shows the scale set, and everything goes normal.

I`ve changed the properties manually, save, close, open...and...the problem is the same,

DIM-UPDATE is the correct way to fix them.

I`ve tried that. Does not solve the problem.

But...yesterday I e-mail one of my drawings to an electricity provider office, I was there when the ingeneer opened it, and the drawing was fine, with the dimensions correctly scaled. They use 2012 version.

I don`t know what else to try :_(

I´ve tried my files in autocad 2012...and everything is fine.

At last...problem solved.
The solution: I create a new template from an Autocad 2012 original dwt. Somehow the 2010 template has this issue (at least in my version) so...it`s done. Thank you all. :cara_con_una_leve_sonrisa:
