Dimensions, Doors and Windows are huge

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hello, I am looking for help with Autocad 2019. I am a student and I don't know very much about the program. Just the basics. I am studying interior design and I need to make floor plans using Autocad frequently. I set my file to scale 1/4 using mvsetup however, my windows, doors and dimensions are absolutely huge compared to my floor plan. I have no idea what to do. I have attached a screen shot of a window and of a door swing. I cannot pull any of them in order to make them smaller they stop at a certain point. I think that something is wrong with my blocks however, I have hardly any experience making or editing blocks.

Thank you for your help!

Hi,

>> I set my file to scale 1/4

In modelspace you always should create your model in 1:1, not scaled!

>> however, my windows, doors and dimensions are absolutely

>> huge compared to my floor plan

So you have drawn your doors and windows more large than your floorplan?

Not sure why you are asking us about why you have created one part in another scale than the other part?

...or did I miss something?

>> I think that something is wrong with my blocks

From screenshots we can't see what might be wrong, a dwg-file would give us better chances to find the source of the issue.

One additional command to your screenshots: your property window hides the modelspace/layout part, you are not able to switch to layouts then.

Your floor plan needs to be drawn at 1:1 scale, then your 1:1 doors and windows will fit. Scales are for printing/plotting way after the fact: you are not board-drafting on paper anymore. Try it now.

Forget that old-school MVSETUP thing for now, you have some core basics to learn first.

Ask your course teacher for guidance on how to use your course program, your school most likely has a peer support team for these types of basic questions, that's going to be your best bet for this first phase.
