curved monitors vs. flat monitors

Are curved monitors good with autodesk work

or should i go with a flat monitor

(the curved monitor i checked is the samsung 27inch s27d590cs)

(the flat one is the viewsonic vx2703 27 inch flat)

I use a MSI 27" 16:9 2K curved monitor for Alias and previously Catia and I love it. What I like about the curved monitor is your eyes are square to the screen more or less from side to side. However a couple weeks back I experimented with a MSI 34" Ultrawide curved monitor and personally found that 21:9 ratio to be a bit overwhelming for CAD use.

Just bought a Samsung G9 49”. Let me tell you, initially looks amazing. But once I noticed the horizontal lines bent in CAD, it killed my enthusiasm. I’ve only used it for 1 day so far. I apply dimensions to everything so I’m not worried about accuracy per se, but more of a feeing of irritability knowing the image is distorted. Otherwise, super cool monitor.

the reason for the bending lines are, that you just not bought a curved monitor,

you bought "the" curved monitor.

The holy grail of all curved monitors, I suppose.

So the Samsung Odyssey G9 has a Screenradius of R1000 so extreme bending that surrounds you

- a pure Gaming monitor.

I´ve got the Samsung C49RG94SSR

Samsung titled it also as a gaming monitor (guess for sales reasons)

But I made 3D work (poly & nurb) and video editing with it,

and in my case that works fine.

It has a Radius of R1800

So much flatter than the Odysse.

Here you have a comparisson of the Odysse and a similar to mine.

You have to take care of the numbers the flatter ones look all the same,

but the data is still slightly different.

For example my one has HDR1000 so the backlight led is much brighter,

than the one from the test.

Nevertheless, I think, if you´re very sensitive, when it comes to bending

and you´re looking for a huge screen, with less as possible curve,

you might go for a pure business monitor from Dell.

They used to sell the U4919DW. But it seems, that this guy runs out of production.

May there is a follow up model.

The U4919DW has a radius of just R3800.

That is a quite moderate bending -so that is may the kind, what you are looking for.

For me, the reaction time was too slow, because my son plays time to time a game on it,

or watch a streamed movie and the Dell for it´s business task only, is just not made for those purposes.

In my case the Samsung C49RG94SSR is the best out of the two worlds.
