Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Which version of AutoCAD do you have installed and on which operating system?  If you start AutoCAD can you create a new file?  Where are your files located? Are they stored locally?

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

HI @Anonymous,

I am sorry to hear that you can't even start a new file.  Is this a new install? Or, has this been working until just recently?

Try a Reset Settings to Default to see if that will get you up and running.

No, it was working last week. It was only this morning that it started to not work.

I have since uninstalled AutoCAD and re-installed it onto my computer. But the same issue is happening!

Can't select any of the options on the toolbar, when I move my mouse around the screen?

Hi @Anonymous,

So, what happened over the weekend? Did you get some updates for Windows or perhaps security software? Did  a driver get updated?

Try running AutoCAD with the No Hardware option to see if that will let you launch the program normally.

Can't select no commands from toolbar. Can't close out of AutoCAD. Only when I use task manager can I close AutoCAD?

Hi @Anonymous,

If you got some Windows updates, you can try removing those. Or, see if there are additional Windows updates that can be applied.

At a Windows command line, please type WINVER and give me the exact version that you are running. Please also check your Autodesk Desktop App or Account page to make sure that you have fully updated your AutoCAD.

Here is an article that describes these steps as well as others that might resolve the issue.

Please try logging into your computer as a new administrator user and see if AutoCAD 2017 launches properly. Please also try logging into your account to make sure that a license is being accepted.
