AutoCAD is slooooooow

Hi Autodesk,

New release do not seem to get faster really. Especially with limited wifi i have the feeling it strummbles a lot. I am digging into features to turn fancy memomy eating things off with vars to tweak. Came across a issue that Autocad variable *Cachemaxtotalsize* can not be 65535 but is max to 30000 for me. Any idea? Does this effect speed positively?

thanks anyway

Ok, not on my 2020.1 side, also for CACHEMAXFILES

and now, back to the topic

I think i can not help (without sample files?), i guess the performance hase nothing to do with this fact.

Good for you, and your newer install.

it has absolutely nothing to do with files.

My point is..  it needs documentation

Sorry, i guess you are right in the first place.

So this value is * 0.5

Why? Duo core AutoCAD ?

Disconnect from or fix Wifi.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Hi,

>> Especially with limited wifi i have the feeling it strummbles a lot

Maybe it helps to start command _DESKTOPANALYTICS and turn of the "agree to data collection" checkbox (if it's on).

I should rephrase the title of this post.

Hi,

>> Else Answers are off topic

Really?

Your statement ... AutoCAD is slow ... especially when Wifi is active.

My answer: turn off DesktopAnalytics ... because my experience is this this could generate a lot of network traffic and makes AutoCAD slower when the network is slow.

May I kindly ask: What is of-topic here?

While you're at it, the first couple sentences could use some help, too.

Smart questions get smart answers.

AutoCAD can turn slow because of numerous reasons. My question was about what seems like a bug in a specific variable.

It took you until the third sentence to state your question?

Yes Rob, and i rephased it while reading it. Humor 😉

Update from the AutoCAD team

"The team would like to know if you need a value greater than 32767 or were just questioning the limit because of the error string displayed."

I think i do. More cache space means more available memory, right?

So, what's the story of the gone 50%?

Hi,

>> More cache space means more available memory, right?

And more time to administrate it (hold it up-to-date)!

Bigger cache does not automatically mean better performance.

Ok. I was thinking the default 1000 would have a reason. Still, it needs documentation.

Like many other things that slow down or speed up AutoCAD

I was thinking _DESKTOPANALYTICS would do some investigations or runs of some kind. Turns out to be a long short and a gateway for Autodesk to collect all my data. I unchecked it agian to be off. Which i think was  the default in the first place..
