AutoCAD installer launches when Quickbooks Pro Timer is launched

Hi.  I am new to this forum.  When my client launches Quickbooks Pro Timer, AutoCAD installer launches and gets some error.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Pro Timer, then uninstalled it and installed AutoCAD 15 SP2, then Pro Timer, but she still gets the same.  I understand others in her org are seeing the same thing.  Installing the AutoCAD patch fixed it for some but not all.  Anyone ever encounter this?  I found a post from 2009 for the same but that's it.

Thank you,

Miles W

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous!

>> AutoCAD installer launches and gets some error

Which error?

It is important to know the type and content of the message otherwise it's a zero-information.

What you can try: right-click the launcher of Pro-Timer and use "start as administrator" ... then let the installer from AutoCAD do it's job (as it then run in administrative context too).

Good luck, - alfred -

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I don't believe that Intuit supports the Quickbooks timer anymore.  I remember battling it in an installation a couple of years ago. If it is an absolute must in the environment how many computers are affected by this behavior?  Have you tried a clean uninstall of AutoCAD and an uninstall of the timer and then reinstalling the Timer and finally AutoCAD? I believe that is how I finally got it to work.

Before you go through that it would be interesting to see if a current version of AutoCAD would display the same issue?  Is it possible to install a Trial to see if it replaces a DLL or registry setting? I doubt that it will but would be fairly quick and easy to test.

Hi John.  I have the same issue as the person with the original email.  However, it only occurs on one of the computers in the office.  In general, the problem occurs without any autodesk software running.  It references Autodesk DWG True View.  It says to run Run Setup.exe.

Hi,

sorry, I'm not John, but have you tried my suggestion (about starting as admin ...)?

Alfred,

Yes, I did, but it didn't resolve the issue.
