Autocad creating weird blocks when I insert a new block file to my dwg

Hi,

I dont know if anyone has been having this issue but its been a nuisance. When I open a new drawing and insert a block file that was saved in my companies hard drive that is shared with me and others, the block file changes the names of my blocks to some weird random code name. I am simply inserting the file through our blocks palette by selecting the box and circle icon to the right of the command line titled "Filter." see below.

The block highlighted and ones next to it have that weird name.

Am I doing something wrong when I insert blocks into my drawing to cause this? The actual block template file has the correct name listed not this weird one above. How do I resolve this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This is helpful but I'm not dragging anything from the Blocks palette this happens upon inserting the blocks drawing reference into my DWG.

A$... symbols are from PASTEBLOCK actions

if you think they are just appearing for no reason at all and nothing you are doing with PASTEBLOCK, then consider restarting your PC to see if it goes away.

Starting a new drawing to display my process. My computer has been restarted.

first open new drawing ->'save as'

Next select Insert blocks

palette to insert blocks dwg references pops up and i select this icon

Selection Window brings me to my files to insert the Block DWG.

I select my file and specify in Model Space, Where I want it to be inserted. I click a random point and its inserted as a block into my DWG and my Library is updated. However one block is named incorrectly.

I check the Block file's DWG and that specific block is also named incorrectly. Catch. I share this file with my team as a whole. we do not ever save over our Block file's original DWG. These are all created within my company and i have no ability to create new blocks for us to use as I am an underling. I spoke with my supervisor and this block does not display with the 'A$' name and is correct on her screen in her office computer. Is this unique to my computer? is my computer the culprit here?

It's just one block then: may I ask, why is this a problem? Have you never had temporary or unused content in a DWG file before today, or if I may ask, is this the first opportunity to notice something like this?

What does your supervisor, and more importantly, your CAD Manager think is the issue?
if they no longer see it, may I ask why you think you need to fix something?

I suspect you'll need to share all of those DWG files here if you want the community to help you find the culprit.

This has happened to me on multiple DWG files with the same block along with new blocks that I have found renamed. (See very first photo attached to this forum). For example, I will have saved over the new drawing and then re-opened it the next day, and i will find a few other blocks within the DWG will have been copied and then this name will show up as 'A$...'. Even if I don't use this block, its a problem because eventually the blocks used with the correct names on say my parking Handicap Symbol, will then have its name changed even though I never edited it.

This is a problem because we count our parking spaces Handicaps' symbols in order to provide accurate spaces to a City Ordinance. If another contractor opens our drawing he then will use the wrong block. its a weird enigma. I know the user could just change the block name, but after you change it, I still shows up with another A$ block in my library.

I can just ignore the block and never use it but then have to change the names whenever i find another A$. it just gets annoying after a while.

I am not allowed to share blocks unfortunately.

This also occurs when I insert blocks from the Design Center.

Sorry, I've never heard of such a problem before. You might need to have your IT reset your AutoCAD for you, or experiment with a new user login to your PC, since no one else at your firm is seeing anything like it.

Have you installed the 2024.1 Update yet? ABOUT command will confirm what you have installed. If not, get it from your Autodesk Account Page here https://manage.autodesk.com/cep/#products-services/updates
Restart your PC afterwards.
