Autocad is a program, Autodesk is the Company that owns it.

Obviously the users are not Autocad.

The fact that you don't like the change or understand or want to know the reason doesn't mean there isn't one -- there's always a reason.  It's always considered to be an improvement in some way, whether or not everyone always agrees.  Just in the case of Hatching, regardless of the dialog box question, do you ever Hatch by just picking inside an area?  That has not always been possible.  If they never changed anything, you wouldn't be able to do that, but would be required to select all the boundary objects, no matter how many or how convoluted.  Should they not have made that change?

BUT more importantly, very often there's a way to use the former way of doing things if you prefer, sometimes with a command name including "CLASSIC," and/or with System Variable settings.  In this case, if you change the HPDLGMODE System Variable [go into Help and read about it] to 1, do you get the good-ol' Hatch dialog box you want?  Also read about other System Variables with names starting with HP -- you might be surprised at how many things you can set to your liking.

@mikePQH4T ,

We understand your frustration, but users in this forum do not work for Autodesk (unless you see their logo in front of their name) and only help provide solutions, and best practices.

Consider providing your feedback to Autodesk directly.

Not really sure what your issue with the hatch dialog box is, but I'll just say that I almost NEVER use it.

All of my hatches are on a Tool Palette.

Simply Ctrl-C a selected bit of hatch, and Right-click>Paste to a blank spot on a (new) palette. All current properties of the selected hatch are inherited to the new tool. You can then copy/paste the same tool in another spot, and adjust the new one's Properties, such as Pattern, Scale, Layer, Rotation, etc. Thumbnail Images adjust, and you can rename to differentiate similar. (My HorizPly & VertPly are the same in all except rotation.)

To use, click the hatch tool and then click in the area you want to hatch - presto!

(Single - one hatch area at a time - as far as I know).

Tool Palettes are GREAT - I have two others, mostly for Blocks, but some are just drawing objects that I want to have certain properties, without having to change layer, or something else. My first one was to draw a revcloud (with preferred layer, calligraphy style, etc) and copy/paste it to my CFK_TOOLS. Properties can be adjusted on the fly, but remain until changed back.

I was trying to get it to spit out the error message I was getting.
Something about too many users, or some such.
