AutoCAD 2025 keeps crashing on opening, I've uninstalled and reinstalled with no change. For a couple of users in our office they have issues with graphics that do not exist with AutoCAD 2024. Do I have to wait till 2026 comes out?

Hi,

Proposal solutions :

  • Check System Requirements ( Operating System , RAM, GPU, and Disk Space ) Verify that your hardware meets or exceeds the requirements.
  • Run a clean uninstall to remove residual files that could be causing issues ( Delete the AutoCAD folder from %AppData%, %LocalAppData%, and %ProgramData% ) \\ Remove the Autodesk folder from C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files (x86).... then Reinstall AutoCAD.
  • Check for Conflicting Software ( Disable antivirus or firewall temporarily to see if they are interfering \Check for software conflicts with tools like the Autodesk Compatibility Checker \ Close background applications using significant system resources.
  • Verify Licensing .... Ensure your AutoCAD license is active and correctly configured. If using a network license, confirm connectivity.

"For a couple of users in our office they have issues with graphics that do not exist with AutoCAD 2024"

Make sure you've installed 2025.1.1 update for those users.

Also it's possible that the graphics cards for those users are not as compatible with 2025 than they were with 2024. So at those user's workstations launch AutoCAD 2025.1.1 and then enter the following at the command prompt:

GFXDX12

0

Close AutoCAD

Then restart AutoCAD 2025.1.1 and see if those users graphics problems have been resolved. If not, enter command GRAPHICSCONFIG, do a screenshot and share that here.

Hello @David125

Can you please tell me if you see any error when AutoCAD crashes? Did you install any windows update lately? For few users AutoCAD is crashing after updating windows. Can you try to uninstall the latest windows update and see if it helps?

I guess the issue of crashing on startup arise after the new window update or graphic driver update from nvidia. After updating to autocad 2025.1.1 it is working againScreenshot 2025-03-14 003924.pngScreenshot 2025-03-15 092430.png

A couple of weeks ago I "upgraded" to windows 11. I tried installing Acad2025 again it worked fine for a couple of days, now it keeps crashing on launch.

Our IT personal tells me all our hardware exceeds requirements, I've unintstalled/reinstalled 2025 a couple of times. Updates are already installed. We don't have network license. AutoCAD 2023 works like a champ, I wish I knew why 2025 is such a DUD, I tried installing 2026 same thing, crashes on launch.

@David125 Start with this list

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/A-software-problem...

Then if still having issues... Here are the ways to open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help:

You might just need more assistance than remote from way over here.

Best wishes.

Exceeding requirements is not the same thing as being compatible with requirements (https://www.autodesk.com/support/system-requirements/certified-graphics-hardware/autocad)

In the short run until you can work out what the problem is, you can install past versions of AutoCAD. This will allow you to continue production while you troubleshoot the newer installs.
