I have found that the LAYDEL command does not work in autocad 2017. I use the command as I always have, select the layers by name, I'm prompted to confirm layer deletion, I accept, but the layers are not deleted.
Hi @dlcurry,
Is this happening in all drawings or just select ones? I use laydel and it works fine in my AutoCAD 2017.
Can you prepare a screencast video or take some screenshots of what you are experiencing?
BTW, are you a local administrator on your computer?
I just tried it on 2017.1 on a Win7 machine, it works just fine picking by name or picking on an object. Post a drawing or portion of one where it doesn't work.

Hi @dlcurry,
Did your problem with Laydel get fixed? Is this happening in only one drawing or all drawings? If the layer unlocked? is it in an XREF?
Please give me some more detail.
Hi,
>> i have the same issue with my mac machine.. please help
If the above suggestions do not help: Please upload the drawing + let us know the name of the layer you like to delete.
