Because I can't wait for autodesk to solve this issue I stripped my computer of all autodesk applications... including all shared and common files... and reinstalled... I do not recommend this as a solution to most computer users as this is not an easy task. But its working

I find it amazing that this is happening today 11/05/2015. Coincindence? maybe.

anyways fixed mine problem.

with thanks to Jesse.russell

Make a bak file just in case. append .bak to mc3.dll (mc3.dll.bak)

and copy over the source mc3.dll found in

D:\AutoCAD MEP 2016\AutoCAD 2016\MEP\Setup\en-US\Setup\Setup

I have MEP on my D drive. I assume will be in a simaler location. if it is different, search out mc3.dll from the root folder and copy the path directories.

Thanks, everyone!

Stummbled upon this this moring and it's worked do far:

  1. Go to Help > Desktop Analytics.
  2. Deselect the "Yes, I would like to contribute to this program" option.
  3. Click OK.

Sounds like Autodesk had a problem with thier servers this morning.

I found one issue with just renaming the mc3.dll file on your local machine, the right-click menu is definitly affected and loses some functionality.

The best fix that has held steady so far for everyone I've applied this to:

1. Close AutoCAD and save a backup of the mc3.dll file on the local machine to somewhere safe.

2. Copy mc3.dll from the installation directory where AutoCAD was installed from (obviously if you work in a company where access is restricted you will have an issue here).  You can right-click on the mc3.dll file and in the properties click on the Detail tab.  The working version is 8.2.1.0, the version causing issues is 8.5.0.0.

3. Paste mc3.dll from the installation directory to your local machine in the folder location where AutoCAD is installed (for my company this is C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2016, yours may vary)

After this we have been able to continue working as normal and will continue to wait on Autodesk for an official fix or some kind of contact.

Again, you can simply rename the file to regain some basic functionality but some things may be affected in the interim.

Yikes!

AutoCAD Arch 2016 definitely doesn't work for me, but I have AutoCAD Arch 2013 still on my computer and have been using it for the last hour, no sign of the 2013 version being effected.

The Help>Desktop Analytics is not available to all product installations.  The deployment for my company intentionally excluded this from all software installations.

Disabling Desktop Analytics is currently working for me! No crash in 10 minutes.

Edit: Spoke too soon, the program just froze on me, going to have to force quit, I'm assuming it's related to the bigger issue we're all experiencing.

Double Edit: I only implemented the Desktop Analytics fix, not the additional "Customer Involvement" suggestion made by the Autodesk poster below. I will now change that as well.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting this issue here. There are many customers reporting this issue in AutoCAD MEP 2016, and we are currently looking into the root cause of the issue. This appears to be happening to users on multiple operating systems, with and without Service Pack 1 installed.

In the meantime, this temporary workaround has helped some other users get the program up and running again. Opt out of the Customer Involvement Program, as it seems to be the module causing the crash:

  • Go to Help > Desktop Analytics.
  • Deselect the "Yes, I would like to contribute to this program" option.
  • Click OK.
  • Next, go to Help > Customer Involvement Program.
  • Select "No, I do not want to join the program at this time".
  • Click OK.
  • Restart AutoCAD MEP 2016.

Please let me know if this gets you back up and running while we investigate what is causing the issue.

Good I'm glad it's working for you. We spent hours this morning trying to find a solution and I just happened to stumble across this in another post.

I wasn't using AutoCAD MEP 2016, I am using ACA 2016 with sp1 installed on windows 7 sp1. I wasn't opted in to customer involvement... so none of those remedies worked for me. I opted to strip my computer of all autodesk products and reinstall. But I had to manually delete all autodesk shared and common files... Let me just say that AutoDesk's unistall is very very very sloppy and leaves behind a ton of junk... In the end I reinstalled and now it is working.

We too had the same problem and contacted Autidesk support, here is there resolution:

The error is coming from the Customer Involvement Program (CIP) in AutoCAD. To stop the crash from happening, do the following:

  1. Go to Help > Desktop Analytics.
  2. Deselect the "Yes, I would like to contribute to this program" option.
  3. Click OK.

Next

  1. Go to Help > Customer Involvement Program.
  2. Select "No, I do not want to join the program at this time.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Restart AutoCAD.

Good luck everyone.

Something a notice when you get the unhandled MSG if you dont press OK autocad will still work as long as that Exception in Mc3d.dll is open. Strange!

Ignoring it works as well.

I renamed the dll file and it works for the most part.

I no longer have the ability to rename a space.  The extrended data is gone so I cant change room names on spaces.
