Attribute Values not updating

I have a block which I use with multiple inserts to list the area and other properties of cladding. For some reason, if I update the block (add another attribute, or change the attributes) the values are no longer shown, just #### or #####.

Please see attached drawing. How can I get the values to update, or what am I doing wrong?

Kind regards and much appreciated

Dave

PS the drawing is for a German customer - the value in question is named FLÄCHE, but it happens with all sorts of attributes etc.

Share the block in a DWG file that displays the problem please.

Hi,

usually in AutoCAD this signs appear when your text link with Field option and this field option is broken for a reason .. I mean that you have a block with attribute .. and this attribute has a field .. the field is linked with an object in your drawing .. this object is missed and not existing .. for that this pound symbols appear .

Thanks for answering so quickly.

It is true that that symbol appears when the link is broken. But in this case it is not, that is why it is so frustrating!

Here is a file with the problem. If you mark one of the blocks, you will see that the value for FLAECHE etc. is #####.

If a block is inserted fresh, everything works...

>>". or what am I doing wrong?"

--> You (add another attribute, or change the attributes)

or you deleted the original source object from where your field trying to read informations.

Re-create the Attributes on your blockreference by renameing and attsync

I know that that is how it works.

But in this case reinserting a block produces the right results, so the problem is not with the block and its attributes. The problem lies somewhere in its inability to update.

Have you tried reinserting the block in my drawing?

Hi,

>>"Have you tried reinserting the block in my drawing?"

Sure.

You current Blockdefinition works well.

>>"But in this case reinserting a block produces the right results, so the problem is not with the block and its attributes."

Right.

You current Blockdefinition works well.

>>"I know that that is how it works."

It seams you don't know enough about AttributDEFINITIONS (what you have inside your Block)

and ATTRIBUTES (which are attached on BlockREFERENCEs)

You can re-create the Attributes as I wrote: Rename them, use Attsync to update the Attributes.

You received a PM from me!  https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

The renaming of the attributes was the key solution here!

Thanks a million...
