Plot styles drop-down menu missing options

Hi everyone,

I am using AutoCAD 2014 for Mac and I've been having some issues with my stb files.

I have one stb that was created on a windows computer and that works alomst perfectly but has one issue with the DASH DOT linetype (everytime I change its plotsyle it just changes the lineweight) so I decided do create a new one. But the new one, when I try to change the plotstyle after setting the file with the new plot style table, only gives me the options of ByLayer, ByBlock or Normal, ingoring all the other plotstyles I created.

(Attached there are two screenshots with both stb files - "Novo" (the good one with the DASH DOT issue) and "Novo2" (the messed up one)

Can anyone tell me how to solve this?

Thanks,

Dom

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,
Look at the topic with the similar issue:

Maybe it will be useful.

Plot styles not working at all in an old file that has .ctb setup.

When I change the plot style in the layout Page Manager, the layers still say that the Plot Style is By Color, and does not list the new plot style that was changed.  Sometimes it comes back when I open/close the file and autoCAD but it's really inconsistent.

I have been dealing with this for about a half an hour and I just want to print this file in B/W the way the .ctb is setup.  It will only print using the color lines from the layers, even though I have tried to assign multiple different new .ctb files.

Hi,

Please verify that you don't use True colors for Layers (objects) in the drawing. Plot Style table affects only objects with ACI colors (which have numbers from 1 to 256), True colors always print with color.
The issue could appear also if you have Visual Style in the viewports different from 2D Wireframe.

Hello-

I don't use true colors and I am drafting only in 2D wireframe.

The .ctb file that was originally attached to the files when I was using AutoCAD Mac 2015 seems to be missing and the program will let me assign a new one to model space, let me assign it to all the layouts, but some layout will not accept the new .ctb and the menus won't work at all.

Have you tried to assign new plot style in each Layout individually rather then assign it in Model with confirmation about all Layouts?
Have you tried monochrome.ctb which comes with AutoCAD?

Hello- yes, Thanks for answering my questions by the way-

It doesn't matter what .ctb I was trying, it still shows that it is plotting by color.

I gave up trying to make that file print.

The bigger problem is that I opened a new .dwt I have been putting together and it did the same thing, when I tried to load my .stb file (after doing a full reinstall of the program), I had to close and open the file again to get it to show up in my menu and apply to the settings on my layout so I could preview my plot style settings in layout.  It is seems to be a very pesky bug that is unpredictable at best.

Sorry, but I cannot understand which plot style you are using?
Is it CTB (color-dependent) or STB (named)?
I'm asking, because these are two different ways.

Hi- To answer your question- I was working with 2 different files:

The first file that I was trying to open had .ctb and AutoCAD wouldn't let me switch to .stb and would not let me see any options for plot style files other than .ctb in the finder.

The secound file I was working with was a .dwt created from an AutoCAD template, using .stb plot styles.

If you want to switch to another plot style table in AutoCAD for Mac - there is only one way:
1/ create new file using plot style table type you need to switch to (STB based in your case)
2/ copy everything from the old file (CTB based) to the clipboard and than paste to the file you just created in step 1.

Thank you very much for that information.

So- Guess what's happening today?

I managed to change the plot style on the old .ctb file that was opened with the new version of AutoCAD Mac 2016.

I did this by saving an old .ctb file as a .ctb file with a new name.  It seemed to work, after saving and opening the file.

The only problem now is, while I can view my plot style in layout - all are plotting in black- The layer colors are no longer visible in Model Space.

All of the lines show up as black, even when I toggle the viewlineweights button. No change.  No layer colors.  WOW

You need to uncheck "Display plot style" option in Page Setup window (under drop-down list of Plot Styles.
