I have restarted multiple times.  others indicate a hardware acceleration issue but i do not find that setting.  any other ideas?

Hardware acceleration in AutoCAD for Mac is always ON, you cannot change this setting.
When this started to show up?

Have you tried to Reset AutoCAD or reinstall it?

I did just did a reset application options in Autocad, same issue.  started recently and i though maybe due to installing MagicPrefs which I did to help with horizontal scrolling randomly.  MagicPrefs solved that issue.  But since this started thought it was the culprit so I uninstalled MagicPrefs and it is still happening.  I can reinstall Autocad next if you think that is best.

Try to reinstall it.
Are you sure you removed MagicPrefs completely?

i'm pretty sure, i have searched thoroughly to make sure no files are left.  can you please provide me with instructions on how to uninstall and then reinstall AuotCad Lt 2014?

Here you can find instructions about reinstalling AutoCAD:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad-for-mac/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticle...

BTW: which macOS do you have on your Mac?
I'm asking, because 2014 version is not supported on macOS Sierra.

Tell issues with unsupported versions of AutoCAD could appear at any moment, so my advice is to upgrade your AutoCAD LT. No one can guarantee that it will work correctly on Sierra.

Is rolling back to an older MacOS free? Autodesk doesn't upgrade you for free because you run an unsupported OS sadly.

Did not have any knowledge of this issue before updating my MacOS.  I cannot downgrade to older operating system, that is not an option.  Will new versions of AutoCad work with Sierra?

Autocad 2017 supposed on Sierra without any Updates. 2016 and 2015 versions require latest Updates.
When new macOS will be released this fall I believe 2018, 2017 and 2016 versions will be supported on it.

does that mean 2014 will never have an update to fix compatibility?  i'm pretty much stuck with the issues unless i upgrade auto cad?  totally uncool.

Yes, never.
Each year only three last AutoCAD for Mac releases are supported on new OS.
