It Would be useful allow the creation of a table with the schematic symbols and its description used in the project. This table is normally placed on the second page of the project.
When you say symbol & description, the list can go grow large depending on the size of the project with many duplications. Description of the symbol mean type of symbol like PB NO, PB NC etc or actual functional description you mean to say ?
I think it's more of a legend of what each symbol means going by what the attached image in the original entry shows. With the continually evolving standards, symbols can change rapidly at times and what's valid today may not be valid in 10 years time.
I have come across older Engineers and Managers that are used to one style of symbols and demand everything be drawn using those symbols, however, they are no longer used elsewhere. For example, I used to work for a manager who wanted all contacts shown as two parrallel lines for NO and NC had a diagonal line across them for NC. This is an extremely old standard in Australia and was moved away from due to their similarity to the symbol for capacitors.
What I believe the post is requesting is a function to add a dumb block of each TYPE of parent symbol used in a project to a table with a short description of what the block shows. This will allow those used to different standards to understand the drawing they are looking at.
For example, you might have 10 different parent pushbuttons in a schematic, but the table would only insert 1 or 2 (NO/NC) dumb block/s with the one entry stating that the symbol is indication of a pushbutton.
One of the top voted ideas in the AutoCAD Electrical Idea station is now available in AutoCAD Electrical 2024. With this feature, the user will be able to create a schematic symbol table from schematic reports.
The schematic report lists the symbols used in the project along with its description in a table. You can also surf through a particular symbol that is used in various locations of the project.
There is an option to insert the symbol list in text table format.
