How about implementing pretty much the world wide standard for loop creation ANSI/ISA-S5.4
A little history
Loop Diagrams are used extensively in the Oil and Gas industry also Pharmaceutical industry and lots of varied industries where process plant over a large physical area exists
Its a method of breaking down a design into a small functional blocks
The information on a loop can contain electrical /mechanical/pneumatic / and or PLC states ETC its not purely an electrical circuit
As an instrument designer before I use a cad system i compile a spreadsheet with all the relevant project information in which is then used to generate the instrument loop
From here either I do a manual loop by loop creation by manually editing template drawings
Or i use a Lisp routine in ACAD which pulls the information out of a my pre formatted spreadsheet and populates drawing templates
if you have a plant of 1000 plus loops then your into some very large labour costs
At present the current Acade to spreadsheet utility does no present the page information in an easily useable format for loops
The plc to spreadsheet utility is close to what I require but at present I don’t have time to fully investigate its possibilities
the circiut builder at present is far to complicated to be of use
So for this to be successful a method of mapping a users spreadsheet to pre defined markers in a template drawings needs to be developed
why a user spreesdsheet becasue you trying to use ACADE in a enviroment where very strict document formating can be the company standard ACADE
must bend to what the customer does not vice versa or it will be a waste of time
Here is part of a spreedsheet for a project i worked on their is over 70 colums of information
