Symbol Builder not starting

When using either the menu button or typing AESYMBUILDER, I do not get to the Symbol Builder dialog screen. ACADE stays locked until I hit the ESC key.

did a re-boot, tried it with different files, all network connections are good

Try typing in AEPALETTESHOW on the command line to see if that fixes it.

I started up out of my docking station and it works, I did not use AEPALLETSHOW.
I will see what happens when I get back to the docking station

Never thought this might be a display issue

If you sometimes switch the number of displays active that could also cause the issue.  I've had the AE software open a popup on a display that isn't currently active (Windows issue).  Ideally if that occurred it would fix it when you redock.

The dialog is just off screen. Try these options when AutoCAD "freezes":
