"WIRES" is not a wire layer issue

I want to change/convert some lines on my drawing to the "WIRES" layer, however when I pick on a line that is already on the "WIRES" layer I get an error message that says "WIRES" is not a wire layer. The WIRELAYS attribute on the WD_M block is populated with a value of WIRES so I'm not sure why it's not recognized.

There might be multiple reasons to this.
I've seen drawings with several WD_M blocks in it, making problems like this.

If you use the create/edit wire types dialog, are you able to "add existing layer" and select WIRES ?

If not, can you share the drawing?

I'm not able to add WIRES layer to existing through create/edit wire type. Drawing attached.

the "wires" layer does not appear in the "create edit wiretype" dialog.

Which means it was somehow deleted. Which is normally impossible (it usually won't let you do that, it's usually the one it will not let you delete).

And your WD_M block only has "wires" as a wire layer.

So how the other layers that are listed as wires are showing up is odd. they should be listed in someway in your WD_M "wirelays" attribute.

What does your WDP say?

Do you have a "?[26]" line in your WDP?

What ever is there will can be applied as a default (apply project properties).

?[26] listed only WIRES because, prior to posting the drawing,  I replaced the WD_M block and did not update the WIRELAYS attribute....here's what my WDP looks like now:

?[26]WIRES,6 A*,8 A*,10 A*,12 A*,14 A*,16 A*,18 A*

It seems that I have resolved the issue. In the create/edit wire type menu I was able to right-click and delete the "empty" line (where WIRES should have been) and add "WIRES" by typing it on the same line. I applied this solution to another drawing in my project with success.
