Break polyline : how to keep properties for both daughters ?

Dear forum members,

Here are filled in properties we added to a polyline :

Original properties.PNG

When the polyline is broken with the break function, then beginning section has the same properties. However, the end section has the following :

 Empty properties.PNG

Except for the automatic property ‘Length’, all the properties have received their default values. That gives extra work with having to fill these in again. Is there an easy way to split a polyline such that both daughters inherit the property values ? When dividing AEC objects with lineworkdivide that is the case.

I don't think there is a command that breaks and copies the property set data. There is a clever workaround in the referenced thread  below that should save a lot of time though.  You could also copy and trim each half.

Thank you for the suggestions.

The procedure relying on copying and trimming is probably faster sometimes than re-entering values. What I do rarely as an alternative is to break the original and then copy the filled-in half.

The procudure provided in the reference thread today only works for fields that are empty. However, fields filled via lists require a default value (the dots in my example, although I should remove it from ‘Verdieping’).

What I do in practice is delay filling in the fields. I usually manage to do most of the breaking before values need to be entered.

Actually, the procedure in the referenced thread preserves the original but the objects must be selected by picking, not by window selection, picking the object with the data first. That is the trick of the thread.

I was mistaken. It are not default values that are a hindrance to that procedure, but lists. For all the properties except Verdieping and Opmerking (both text fields) the element *VARIES* is added to the list and can be selected (which appears useless).

Thanks for the screencast. I  thought one could just press return to enter the correct value, but indeed, that doesn’t work. Even after unhighlighting pressing return doesn’t work.

What about lists ?
