Patrick,

Most graphics programs, like Powerpoint, can import CGM. You could then copy and paste to ACAD.

Patrick,

Even easier, is simply to drag and drop the CGM fine into ACAD. As for editing, I'd recommend you edit the file with a program more compatable with CGM, before importing into AutoCAD.

Jesse, thanks for your help, but I need to edit it
in autocad for several reasons. There is too much datas in the CGM files, and I
need to edit them in an Autocad file. That s my big problem. There is other
reasons to do that. All I could do at the moment is import it but no chance to
edit it. Must be a trick for that. I don t believe that s
imposible.

Thanks again for your help.

Patrick,

Understand your problem, but it's kinda like Apples & Oranges, while you can put them in the same basket, they remain Apples & Oranges. Much more practical to do the editing in the appropiate program as some aspects of CGM would be lost if made editable in ACAD (shaded or colored fills for example). If you could send me a typical CGM file that you're trying to use, might be able to help more.

You buy this (no other choice):
http://www.cgmlarson.com/convert_cgm_image.html

Then you import the resulting file (TIFF, JPEG, GIF, PDF, CALS
Raster, PCX, PNG, Sun Raster, Windows BMP, XWD) into Adobe
Illustrator10 (you might have to buy that too from
http://www.adobe.com/products/illustrator/main.html) or a Raster
to Vector translator software (you might have to buy that too)
which translate a new file into DXF or DWG that you can then
import into AutoCAD.

Or, you import the resulting file into AutoCAD, and trace over
it.

Apples and Oranges, no matter which way you look at it 😉

Enjoy.

I have your answer......I had a .cgm file from a
friend, brought it into MS Visio and then ungrouped it and then I can save as a
.dwg. It might not be perfect but send me a file and I will test it for
you.
