Please make a separate, independently "floating" window for the Document Manager (see e.g. Management Tools), independent of the active drawing(s). Working on the drawing must be possible in parallel to the opened Window of the Document Manager.
as already written here in other ideas. I could understand the wish, but I think this will not be possible in AS. By opening the document Manager, the software check if the attached documents are "up to date". If you want to have the document manager always open, on which point should AS check the documents? Everytime? --> you could do nothing if Advance Steel is checking hundreds of documents in every second.
comparison: how does eg. the AS Model Browser work, which can be opened at any time (unfortunately it also shuts down with ESC)? Simply, after the change in model file (numbering, etc.) one have an update button ... click on ... and the miracle works.
1. check the documents, get the differences, 2. update what is needed - somehow Document Manager does it every time when you open it. And maybe it would be enough to move the mouse between the drawing and the permanently open Document Manager (bring it to the front) to check for any changes on current model file.
It could be great if the DM can be left open and get a functionality to check if there is an action in the model (no matter what action) and then sho a message in the DM to refresh the checking function ( with a special button).
