Simplified Upload of New File Versions via Drag & Drop in Viewer

Simplified Upload of New File Versions via Drag & Drop in Viewer

We would like to upload a new version of a file by opening the existing file version and then dragging and dropping a new file into the viewer. It should not matter what the new file's name is; it should always take the name of the opened file to maintain the naming standard and versioning.

Alternatively, there could be a function under the "..." menu to upload a new version of the file.

It is important that adding via drag and drop is always possible. Often, we are viewing a file in the ACC viewer and want to replace it with a new version, for example, from an email. Currently, we have to save the file, rename it according to the naming standard, and then upload it. Directly adding a new version of an open file in the viewer would save us a lot of time.

Hi, I completely agree and was having the exact same discussion with one of our designers the other day. Being able to upload a file with a different name than the file name would save so much admin time.

Designers generally do include the revision meta data in the file name, and this is actually useful outside of the CDE when finding the file on a local drive or on email, etc.

It is only when it is then uploaded to the system that being able to upload the file 'as is' would be very helpful, and would also be a clearer UI for the designers to understand.

Thanks

Ryan
