We use issues for capturing process non-conformities and observations on field. For configuration of issues in order to get structured output data which can be used for analysis and improvement, we need four levels of selections within the issues module - Issue type (quality/safety/design, etc.), Category (Trade), Sub Category (Activity) & Issue Checkpoint. Currently we can only set up Types, Categories and Custom Fields.
If there was an option in custom field to add nested dropdowns, we could have set up 2 levels within a nested dropdown custom field, which would have allowed us to select the exact checkpoint a particular issue is related to.
Setting up the required 4 levels in the currently available configuration options (3 levels), needs configuration of 300+ dropdown type custom fields (for different activities on site), which is very difficult to manage across 25+ projects that are currently live on ACC.
This will also reduce the number of categories and types required, as the categories and types can be set up through nested dropdowns, making the user experience better.
