Currently, when a file is shared from ACC-Files or referenced within a correspondence, the system includes a link to the file in the email notification. In most cases, this approach is effective and efficient.
However, there are certain scenarios where it would be preferable for the file to be directly attached to the email itself, rather than requiring the recipient to access it via a link. For example, external recipients or stakeholders may benefit from immediate access to a fixed version of the file without navigating through the ACC interface.
Proposed Enhancement:
Introduce an optional setting—such as a checkbox—available at the time of sharing a file (particularly when selecting “only the current version fixed at the time of sharing”). When enabled, this setting would allow users to attach the actual file to the outgoing email notification in addition to (or instead of) the link.
Benefits:
Ensures recipients can access shared files instantly without needing ACC access.
Prevents confusion over file versioning by locking the attachment to the specific shared version.
Improves usability for external communication where link-based access may be less ideal.
