Ability to automatically/schedule Revit cloud model publish without links

Ability to automatically/schedule Revit cloud model publish without links

As a general contractor, we often Bridge projects with the design team and their models are typically published with links. When they are bridged over to our project, they essentially become useless because they can't be linked through the Desktop Connector because of the "zip file" issue. If there was a way to modify the "schedule publish" feature in Design Collaboration to publish without links, that would resolve this issue.

Thanks!

Hi @rrogersRM , have you tried linking through External Resources instead of Desktop Connector?

It is recommended to link using the External Resources for Revit Cloud workshared models and Cloud models for Revit (non-workshared).

This support page has some more information - https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Difference-between...

FYI this is a recommendation that is not specific to Bridge.

@roy_peryeaYes, great point. I work for a general contractor and we have one project where we are doing that, however not all contractors have BIM Collab Pro, especially some of the smaller firms, so they're unable to do this.

Having this option would be greatly beneficial for those contractors.

Thanks!

Yes, we really need this. Hello Autodesk — it's already 2025. This feature is essential!!

Sadly @roy_peryea , I do have PRO and we are facing the exact same problem. I'm trying to link the model that was aparently published with links and bridged thought both Autodesk Docs and External References and none of the linking workflows worked...

I was able to link though Autodeks Docs and have it recognize the linked files before when again apparently the publish was without links.

Funny thing is that I though that both publishes were with links... So I have no idea why one behave like it was publish without links and the other one doesn't.

This could be all avoided if we could ether stop the publish with links all together (because I have not seen anybody needing that workflow yet, only complaining about it) or just give as the option to schedule publish without links as the default if we want to.

It's that simple!

Please make this simple change ASAP.
