Translating multiple geometries to multiple primitives

Hello,
I'm a modder since few years now and I'm so bored about the collision making process.
For each interior projects, I need to create hundreds of primitives boxes/cylinders, but adjusting the size and position of each of them is a real nightmare. I sometimes spend more like 6 hours to do that, and I'm 100% sure that game studio (who worked in 3ds as well) used a simple script to generate those models.
What I would like to do exactly is:
- Select some geometries (editable polys),
- Type the amount of total primitives or the details level,
- The possibility to choose between cylinders & boxes ( absolutely optionnal)
I'm very very new to MaxScript so I wanted to know if someone can explain me the rough process to do it.
PS: I'm working on 3ds Max 2016, and I'm French 🙂
