Artefacts caused by ?

Hi,

I'm working on my case model (phanteks evolv) and based on the progress of this job I see some artefacts on my model.. doesn't matter if crease/open div are active or not. Why does this appear and.. how can be excluded?

I have to mention that on zoom will dissapear. Thanks!

Looks like Z-fighting? Two polygon being ver close to each other. Maybe a scale issue? Can you provide a file as example?

Like i suspected it`s a scale/precision issue.

Change under Unit setup->System Unit Setup->System Unit Scale to Milimeter. Reload the scene and use the 'Rescale the file objects to the System Unit Scale' option.

Result: No Z-fighting.

@Anonymous- thanks! in order to avoid such issues in the future.. I should set the system unit scale at the beginning before creating any geometry? Of course.. this workaround did the job but which is the reason for Z-fighting appearance?

Generally, you should set the System Unit Scale to the general scale of your project. So if you are creating a rather small object, like in your scene you, should set the System Unit Scale accordingly.

Z-fighting occurs when two polygons are so close to each other, that the depth buffer can no longer determine which poly is front or back.

Hope that clears things up a bit.
