3ds max 2017 keeps crashing with 20% cpu usage

hi everyone,

i recently downloaded the rayfire demo, but when i try to fragment higher numbers of objects (for example bricks of walls) or add an asperity modifier, it crashes, but it uses only 20% of cpu. suggestions?

the only reason why 3ds max crashes is because your computer cannot handle the amount of fragments that it is trying to render, you would need to reduce the fragments or add more memory so your computer can handle it, when you hit render then everything in your scene has to be calculated and rendered as you know, even the fastest computer with a high amount of ram can still crash
