This is used across many if not all platforms Gaming, 3d model texturing, Texture unwrapping... All virtual 3d studios, with News and sports platforms, use this around the world. It just needs to be apart of Arnold... This was available since the dawn of time it seems in 3DS Max, & was available with 2017 and Mental Ray, it is available in Maya 2018, but not available in 3DS Max 2018 using Arnold.
Before being removed Mental Ray was used for many functions of render to texture. Currently we only have available scanline for that, being a very basic renderer.
Render to texture with Arnold is available in Maya and there are not reasons to be also in Max
For gaming industry this is a very important feature. This thread has two years already...I have considered to move to other software after its removal.
I still using 3dsmax 2017 and this will be the second year paying the maintenance without using the latest software.
I know right? I had my class all submit a vote to get it to this position... people tend to let things slide if they have it available in a previous version of max.
I am assuming that nearing the next version (2019) this thread is going to pick up some steam? (I hope)
