For large scale projects there should be a progressive saving method. Like a history for changes. So every saved file in a folder could represent a change in max scene. That would be awesome.
There is a built-in feature to increment the save filename every time you save, but unlike the script, the most up-to-date version is the one with the highest number, not the one with the original filename. It can be found in prefrences->files->Increment On Save.
I already know that feature Japamala but thanks for the info anyway. I use it with Compress on Save feature together. But it takes huge amount of file size on large projects. For example if the file size is 200mb and new incremented saved file is 210mb, and after that more new files with 220mb, 300mb file size like so. It's like 200mb + 210mb + 220mb + 300mb ... . I m telling you that it should be only save the changes. Not the whole scene again. There should be a one main file and other supporter files with only contains the changes. So it's gonna be like 200mb + 10mb + 10mb + .... like so.
Hm... wouldn't that be very dangerous? You would need all of the files together to open the scene at all, and if even a single file is mis-placed, the entire thing is gone.
While we will Archive this one, we will keep in mind for some future work we're looking into. The way the max file is created, saved, updated, etc. doesn't lend itself to this type of workflow. We are looking into ways to make this easier. As some others suggested, though, check out the xref workflows to separate things out of a larger main scene.
