Extrude/Bevel tool

Hello,
 In 3ds Max when you use the Extrude/Bevel tool, the result you get is the following:

 

The edges on the corners are not aligned with the ones in the middle. In other 3d programs (such as XSI, Zbrush, Maya) the result from the same operation is this :

All the edges are straight. Also in Maya there is an option "Local Translate Z" (highlighted in yellow) and when you input a number higher than 0 you get the same effect as in Max :

The Idea - Make Extrude/Bevel tool behave more like in other 3d softwares and add a feature like the one Maya has - "Local Translate Z".

Regarding faces extrude/bevel, not sure if this is the child of the same problem or if it has to do with straight corners but when extruding/beveling polygon groups with very sharp edges like a Cylinder top selection you get oblon results.

In Maya this is usually avoided playing only with the Thickness value of the extrude and leave the Local Translate Z alone.

In Blender the Offset Even option pretty much gives a perfect result.

Modo has a Max Smoothing angle value that addresses these cases (see below gif) Going by their doc: “Shifts vertices along the averaged vertex normal vectors computed from connecting polygon face normals. When the angles between faces are less than Max Smoothing Angle, the averaged normals are computed per smoothing face group and then combined with the separated normal vectors as the extrude vector.”

it seems the straight corners is/was a general issue with extrude. Take for example Extrude along spline tool issues that miauu tried to overcome with its script (Watch from 0:45 onwards):

this should be addressed too along with edge extrusions
