Swift loop doesn't work.

I have a bunch of installs ,2026, 2025, 2024, 2020) and swift loop doesnt work in any of them.

I test on a standard cube converted to edit poly. the swift tool (which i use constantly) turns on from the ribbon, the mouse cursure turns into a star (as is should) but I can't place a loop. No preview, no actuall edge if i press arround and turn the tool off.

I use the tool constantly I know how it works... What's happening ?! It just stopped working in ANY max install.

Tried installing the latest nvidia drivers - no dice.

the only other change I can think of is a recent windows update, but I am on a work computer and can't test removing updates or anything like that.

Some installs have scripts some don't

I tried reseting all settings but didn't help.

Any help ?

Yeah, aperantly, the january windows update broke a lot of stuff including elements of 3ds max.

Installling the latest C++ redistributable fixes all of the issues including the swift loop issue.

Thank you!

Occasionally, the 3ds Max selection system may freeze invisibly. Please try the following workaround:

Convert the cube to an Editable Poly.

Access the Edge sub-object level by pressing the 2 key.

Select a random edge.

Navigate to the Ribbon and enable Swift Loop.

Hover the cursor over the object. In most cases, forcing a sub-object selection prior to activating the tool restores the preview functionality.
