Shadows Not Showing in Render

Hello, community!

I know this subject was posted before here, but my situation is slightly different. I've already tried what others suggested as possible solutions. None worked.

Here's the effect:

Picture (1):

Renderer: Mental Ray
Details: Shadows appear in good quality when in Perspective Viewport. When rendering, shadows do not show. Objects show expected world reflection (complex object is 'metal'. Sphere is 'chrome').

Picture (2):
Renderer: Scanline

DetailsShadows appear in good quality when in Perspective Viewport. When rendering, shadows appear incomplete. Objects have opaque polygons (no world reflextions).

My scene has a big dome-like sphere with a 'sky and clouds' bitmap, a plane with the wooden texture, a spotlight with a big falloff and small hotspot, and these two objects. Even though (2) shows the objects floating, they are both "resting" on the wooden floor. I'm working inside the dome.

I've already checked all possible parameters for the shadows in the spotlight, in the render setup, as well as the shadow casting in the objects parameters.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the community,

My first instinct tells me the objects are not touching the floor, the shadow bias parameter is overly high, or the XForms need to be reset on those objects.  Would you mind posting a sample file, please?

Best Regards,
